Does Staging Work?

February 4, 2022

83% of buyer’s agents said that staging makes it easier for buyers to “visualize” their property as their future home.

40% of buyer’s agents said that staging had an effect on most buyer’s view of the home.

28% of seller’s agents said that there were slight decreases in the time on the market when the home is staged.

25% of buyer’s agents said that staging increased the dollar value offered by 1% to 5% compared to the other similar homes on the market that are not staged.

With that being said, staging not only makes a home appear livable and inviting, it allows buyers to envision living in the home, and gives them ideas about how to use available space. Staging can involve minimal effort! For instance, merely rearranging existing furniture can go a long way towards making a room appear more spacious. For some sellers, staging a home is a major production which may include hiring a decorator and renting a house full of furniture. To strike a balance between budget and staging, clean and rearrange the furniture and decorations you already have, then add a few inexpensive home decor items such as throw pillows, new light fixtures, and place settings for the dining table.
